One of my favorites

Hey all!

Okay, so the topic that we'd talked about blogging on is favorites. One of my favorite things is the fact that Josh loves to grill, cook, and bake! Josh and I both take turns making our meals. I enjoy cooking, but it is also so nice to have a spouse that loves to cook too!

One of my favorite meals that we have is a bbq'd maple chicken salad. (Josh bbq's the chicken and we eat it with romaine lettuce).

On Conference Sunday Josh woke me up and let me know that he'd made breakfast. Hash browns and eggs.

Anyway, that's it for today!

A day in our shoes!

Hey! I wasn't too sure what I ought to blog about this week so I decide to give you just a glimpse of what we are up to now days!

Josh is keeping super busy with full time school, full time work, and taking care of South Valley Dance Academy’s accounting, marketing, and publicity. He is expecting to graduate with a degree in business a year from December and is quite anxious to be through with school. Josh is enrolled in online classes and then he also goes down to school each Saturday. Josh wakes up each day and leaves for work about 8:00am, he normally gets home between 6:30-7:00pm and then quickly eats dinner and works on homework and accounting, marketing, and publicity for the business for another 3-6 hours. Josh and I also teach the 5 year olds in church. We have been teaching the 5 year olds in church since we first got married (other than nursery for a while) and have finally started laminating everything so that we don’t have to keep remaking our visuals. Between everything he does he is an amazing Husband and Father. Tyler and I are sure grateful for him!

Tyler is doing much better and over his sicknesses that he was dealing with (over a month!!!). He loves to play with his toys, he sat up by himself on Monday, and although he lets me feed him his bottles he does his best to help me hold it sometimes. He loves tummy time and continues rolling over from his tummy to his back. I help him roll from his back to his tummy quite frequently and honestly think he could do it by himself if he wanted to, but he hasn’t wanted to yet. He is getting more mobile. When I lay him down on his tummy I set his toys in front of him in a semi-circle. When he wants one of the toys he will push himself forward until he is on top of it (he just needs to grasp the concept that he can then grab the toy to play with it…he isn’t sure what to do once he is laying on it).

Now that he is feeling better we are working on scheduling set nap times each day. Right now he tends to be awake and then fall asleep for 5-20 minute cat naps…doing so leaves him pretty exhausted and unhappy. This week I have been trying to keep him awake for 2-3 hours (with no cat naps) and then have him take a longer nap. Things are still pretty rough but I believe that with a bit more time we will have a great napping schedule down!

I’m also keeping really busy. I take care of Tyler, run South Valley Dance Academy, and teach each evening. Most days consist of some house cleaning, I cook dinner in the morning (and then put it on plates for Josh and I so that we aren’t in the kitchen during classes…we just heat the food in the microwave and eat in our room), playing with Tyler (I read to him, take him on walks, play with him, and of course bathe him and get him ready each day), errands, grocery shopping, business phone calls, emails, choreography, lesson plans, performance preparations, etc. (today I was on the phone for most of the morning ordering costumes). Students arrive for classes by 2:45 most days and I finish teaching between 5:00 and 6:30 each day. I have a babysitter that comes to watch Tyler while I teach and then another girl that helps me with my evening classes (classes continue until 8:30pm each evening). After classes are out for the night I wash bottles, clean up dinner, make sure that the studio and house are all cleaned up and locked up for the night, get Tyler ready for bed, and finish up any other business I wasn’t able to complete during the day.

We are keeping busy and loving life!!! I am so thankful for my amazing husband Josh and our sweet Baby Tyler.

Visiting Logan

This past weekend was so much fun. On Sunday Josh, Tyler, and I went up to Logan to visit Holly and Dusty. We had never seen their new apartment and thought it would be a nice Sunday drive up the canyon and a lovely visit with the Haw’s in Logan.

Our trip did not disappoint. The drive was absolutely breathtaking. The leaves have changed colors in the mountains and they are all bright and vibrant colors. There was a drizzle of rain on our way up and a downpour on our way home!

When we got to Logan we saw Holly and Dusty’s darling home and visited with them for a few minutes there. I had no idea that Holly makes homemade salsa that tastes just like Chili’s salsa; so we ate some of that (amazing!), and then we headed out the door to go and feed some ducks!

I have attached a photo of us all feeding the ducks. It was pretty chilly outside but it was so worth it! The ducks all flock to you as soon as they see the bread and some of them will catch the pieces in midair. We had a little photo shoot and threw bread galore into the water.

We then drove over to USU’s campus and walked around. We saw beautiful views of the temple, the building Holly works in, many of the buildings Holly and Dusty attend classes in, the “Quad” (a large grassy area with a sidewalk that separates the grass into four enormous squares), the school’s amphitheater, and we met an elderly man that has a bunch of degrees from USU and seemed intent to follow us and talk with us all.

After our tour of campus we drove Holly and Dusty home and went home ourselves.

We had so much fun visiting with them in Logan. If you haven’t gone up you really ought to go sometime! Thanks Haw’s Family!

Baby Pictures :)

Hello,
I know this is probably a little silly but I thought I'd show you all some pictures of our baby! These are from a little while ago, I may get some more on Monday. Hopefully these are fun to see though.

The above picture is his foot :)

During the ultrasound he moved a whole lot; he flipped from his head being on the left side of my stomach to being up by my ribcage and he kept on tucking his legs into his chest, extending them out above his head, and then kicking. The ultrasound tech was thrilled because she was able to get pictures and video of his entire body pretty easily. Here we have a picture of him with his knees by his head. (I'm not sure how to flip these pictures)

This picture is similiar to the one before but he is in the process of stretching out his legs to go above his head.

Anyway, that's all I've got for today!

Mary has asked that I post some pictures of our house. I will try to do that next week!!!

XOXO

Costco/Sam's Shopping and Cooking Ideas

The other day I ran across a post on Facebook about $20 meals from Costco for $150. Upon checking out the site I saw that there was information about what to buy when you go to Costco (there's one for Sam's Club as well), along with all the meals that you can make and of course the recipes. I haven't tried this out yet but thought it might be fun to pass on! URL is below:

Trick for NO Nausea

I know that this post isn’t really pertinent to most of you right now, but hopefully this will help some of you or even your friends out if you get morning sickness when you become pregnant and aren’t finding anything that is effective for you!

This past year has been interesting in the sense that I have been pregnant three times and had about seven months of first trimesters. Because of this I have learned to really appreciate having something to help with nausea! I have tried so many different anti-nausea medicines and none of them have been very effective, some have even made my symptoms worse. After talking to some of you that have been pregnant it sounds like you’ve had the same problem.

About a month ago I was at the doctor’s office and told about a brand new anti-nausea medicine called Diclegis. I was told that this medicine is the most effective anti-nausea medicine they have ever had on the market but that most women do not ever get to use it because it is so expensive. I was given sample bottles of the medicine and found that it was extremely effective. This past Tuesday I was down to my last sample and went to the pharmacy to have a prescription filled for the medicine. I was told that it had to go through insurance first and I would not get the medicine for days. (A lot of insurance companies won't cover the medicine at all). A kind pharmacist spoke up and told me that really this medicine is just made up of two ingredients that can be bought for a very low price at the grocery store and I could save hundreds a month if I let her break it down for me.

The sample bottle that I was given has 10mg pills of Diclegis in it. You start the medicine by taking two pills at night before bed. If nausea persists on day 3 you can increase the medicine by taking the two at night like you have been and add one in the morning (for a total of 3). If symptoms persist add another tablet in the afternoon on day 4 (for a total of 4).

Here is the breakdown of what 1 Diclegis pill actually contains:
1 pill of Diclegis= 12mg of Unisom (Doxylamine), 25mg of Vitamin B6

Unisom is a sleep aid that is sold in any grocery store; you just have to make sure it says Doxylamine on the box as well. The pharmacist helped me find a box that had 25mg pills inside of it. I just cut the pill in half. It is a small enough amount I am able to take it during the day and I don’t feel sleepy.

Vitamin B6 is also sold in any grocery store. The pharmacist helped me find 100mg tablets of the vitamin. I cut the pill into fourths (it sounds like it would just crumble but it actually does not). She said it wouldn’t be a big deal if the pill didn’t cut into fourths very well and I took a little extra Vitamin B6 because your body will just remove the extra waste.

I take half the pill of Unisom and a fourth of the pill of Vitamin B6 as needed 1-4 times a day and have felt so much better.

Like I said, this has been the most helpful aid for my nausea this past year. Hopefully it helps some of you out with nausea and finances in the future as well!
